The driving rehabilitation program lasts about 2 1/2 hours. It has two parts to it. The program has a clinical portion that takes about an hour and a half where they assess the physical/visual cognitive abilities of a patient, and then they do a complete on-road assessment.

This program involves two key components - A clinical evaluation conducted by an experienced occupational therapist with specialized training in the field of driving rehab and a behind-the-wheel evaluation under the direction of a driving instructor who has special training working with people with disabilities.

Description: Clinical driving evaluation requires approximately two hours, includes the following & is covered by insurance: Brief medical history, Cognitive screening, Brake reaction speed test, Visual screening.  Behind the wheel evaluation, if appropriate, is scheduled on another day with an occupational therapist and driving instructor. There is a $300 out of pocket cost. This evaluation includes the following: Driving in a real world setting, Independently getting in and out of a car, and storing mobility aids as needed, and Identifying the need for adaptive equipment.
