Legislative Advocacy Efforts
We are delighted to share some fantastic news! Our Legislative Advocacy Committee's ongoing efforts have resulted in families now being able to request a second disability placard for their vehicles.
This will provide greater flexibility and support for families, as now two caregivers can have their own disability placards for ease of access and care.
To request a second disability placard, you will need to write a letter to the state, expressing your need for an additional placard. We have prepared a template letter that you can use and directions on how to fill it out. Click on the links below.

What is the Legislative Advocacy Committee?
The Illinois Spina Bifida Legislative Advocacy Committee is a dedicated group comprised of parents, caregivers, and individuals living with spina bifida. They are an ambitious group united by a common goal: ensuring that those living with spina bifida have every opportunity to lead successful and fulfilling lives. Recognizing the need for crucial changes, they actively engage in legislative initiatives to enhance the well-being of our community members.
