Welcome to ISBA’s Digital Digest Quarterly Newsletter!

Dear ISBA Community,

We are thrilled to introduce the Illinois Spina Bifida Association’s new quarterly newsletter, Digital Digest. This publication is designed to keep you informed, engaged, and connected with the latest news, events, and resources from ISBA. At ISBA, our mission is to improve the quality of life for children, adults, and families living with spina bifida. Founded in 1969 by dedicated parents, ISBA has grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering programs that promote skills development, support through outreach, education, and advocacy, and invest in individuals through targeted financial assistance.

Meet ISBA’s Board Chair Becky Ziegler Rupnick

As the Board Chair of the Illinois Spina Bifida Association (ISBA) and mother of an eight-year-old daughter with spina bifida, I am committed to enhancing the lives of those affected by spina bifida in Illinois. When my daughter was diagnosed, ISBA provided essential support and resources for our family.

With 17 years of experience in education, I am a passionate disability advocate focused on promoting independence, advocating for impactful legislation, and providing educational support. My work includes assisting teens in transitioning to adult care, offering executive functioning services, and building strong relationships with families and stakeholders. Together, we can create an inclusive and empowering environment for all those living with spina bifida in Illinois.

Spina bifida is a lifelong neurological condition that affects the spine, leading to physical and developmental disabilities. Our programs, designed in partnership with families, service providers, volunteers, researchers, and funders, aim to provide specialized medical care and daily health and wellness support to those affected. We believe every individual with spina bifida deserves the opportunity to live a full, independent, and empowered life, and we are committed to making this vision a reality.
